It’s a brand new school year – which means it’s that time to promise yourself that you’ll actually be organized this year and that this will be the year that you actually start going to the gym. It’s also the time of year to meet your CAS Peer Advisors, because we want to help you meet those goals and so much more.
Meeting with your Peer Advisor is a really important step to take in the beginning of your freshman year. We’re here to help you with things like navigating your general education requirements to how to check out a textbook from the library reserves and getting involved around campus. Basically, we want to make sure you have the tools you need to be the rock star (figurative or literal) that you dreamed of being when you decided to come to AU.
Be sure to check out our office hours on the right hand side of the webpage, and please make sure to schedule your appointment online with the 24-hour appointment scheduler. You can do so by clicking this link. When you come by for your appointment, check in at Battelle 100 (the very first door on the left when you come in from the quad entrance).
In the meantime, get to know your Peer Advisors:
Fatima Kamara, ’15
Hometown: Norfolk, VA
Favorite study spot on campus: Library basement
Best book I’ve ever read: Silence of the Lambs (not done yet)
Grilled cheese or mac & cheese?: I’m lactose intolerant, but definitely mac & cheese
Favorite social media outlet: Snapchat
Joanna Dressel, ’15
Major: Sociology 🙂
Hometown: Haymarket, VA
Favorite thing to do between classes: I have like 4 friends and they’re always in Battelle so any random slots of time are spent in the Atrium
If your life was a film, what genre would it be and what would it be titled?: I truly identify with Raymond from Everybody Loves Raymond so I guess my life would be a comedic family sitcom instead of a movie. And as for the title, let’s go with “Happy to be Here”
Favorite thing to do in DC: Finding cool places with yummy food and good spots to sit and read. Also, I love DC history/cultural organizations!
Weird talent that you have: Clairvoyance
Brandon Klugman, ’16
